Maintenance Technician Certificate

Program Description

Code 197 - 16 Credits

To enter into the career field of a maintenance technician responsible for conducting general maintenance and repairs on facility equipment and property structures, this certificate program is a designed for students who are interested in pursuing skilled trades coursework. Employment opportunities within this career field include manufacturing, health care, education, automotive, retail, commercial real estate, agriculture, senior centers, restaurants, and more.  The flexible coursework allows a student the ability to expand their education in specific industry specialties once the base industrial trades coursework is completed. Program is designed for career entry and/or advancement. To earn the certificate, students must complete the required modules and additional modules for a total of sixteen (16) credits.

Modular Format

Industrial Trades curricula are offered in a non-traditional, modular format. Module descriptions are not listed in the catalog. Industrial Trades Orientation

All students interested in taking Industrial Trades modules must complete one or more core curriculum orientations. The orientation is a core curriculum prerequisite. Students will not be able to register for modules until the orientation is completed.

Program Learning Outcomes


  1. Program graduates will demonstrate the technical knowledge and skills required to use industry equipment appropriately for employment in the field of Maintenance Technician.
  2. Program graduates will demonstrate safety protocols in the field of Maintenance Technician by consistently applying and adhering to current industry safety standards.
  3. Program graduates will demonstrate the ability to use a variety of techniques in solving problems presented in the field of Maintenance Technician.
  4. Maintenance Technician program graduates will effectively communicate the technical content of the field, both written and orally.
