Business Management, AAS

Program Description

Code 213 - 60 Credits

Code 213A (online) - 60 Credits

The Business Management program at Kellogg Community College prepares students to enter the career of management and supervision. The program includes a rigorous curriculum of classroom and lab experiences that prepare the student for success in small or large businesses. Successful completion of program requirements provides the student with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Management.

Managerial personnel oversee, direct and plan the work of others, as well as determine business policy. Supervisors, the largest managerial group, direct the activities of workers in areas of sales, production, and purchasing. Entry-level management positions are typically supervisory or trainee in nature. Some employers have indicated that business management graduates with specific skills such as accounting, marketing, and human resources, may have an employment advantage.

This curriculum leads to an Associate of Applied Science degree. While this curriculum has been designed for career entry and/or advancement, Kellogg Community College does have articulation agreements with several local universities. Interested students should contact the admissions office of the appropriate institution. Please note that most courses in the Business Management program also offer an online form of delivery in addition to the traditional lecture-based class.

Online Programs

The Associate in Arts, and Associates of Applied Science in Accounting, Administrative Assistant, Business Management, and Early Childhood Education are available as fully online programs. The Early Childhood Education program requires field experiences that are not offered online. Please see the Online Programs webpage for further information about the coursework required to complete these online programs.

Service-Learning Requirement

Students who obtain an Associate degree or an Associate of Applied Science degree will be required to complete a service-learning experience. The final grade in the course must qualify for academic credit in order to receive the service-learning endorsement. Please contact an Academic Advisor for courses that offer a service-learning experience, or search in the class schedules.
